I’m taking part in a secret santa exchange organized by the Haikyuu Creator Hub (if you’re the person who got my assignment, hi/thank you/sorry) and was taking this unusual opportunity to request some rarepairs... I was writing up some explanations of my favorite rare ships for Kenma and Akaashi and got a little carried away. I was embarrassed by the thought of my request being ultra long on ao3 so… I am posting my short explanations for my ships here.

KENMA SHIPS:

Looking for anything EXCEPT for kuroken or kenhina (both of which I do love, though!), for example…

• Kenma/Akaashi - The two clever setters of the Four Tokyo Pals (tm). Maybe they connect at some point because of Kuroo and Bokuto being bffs. Maybe a rivals to lovers vibe?
• Kenma/Kageyama - When they first meet, Kageyama wants to talk with Kenma so much and Kenma is so alarmed by him! Would love to see them becoming friends & getting together, whether in high school or in the timeskip. They’d keep running into each other since they’re both close with Hinata, after all!
• Kenma/Bokuto - The rarest pair of the four Tokyo pals! I would love to see these two hanging out sometime (once again, probably through Kuroo mutual friendship) and being surprised that they actually like each other. Kenma sometimes clicks with someone surprisingly outgoing and brash (see: Hinata) so I could see this working!
• Kenma/Atsumu - See above re: clicking with someone outgoing and brash. Kenma likes interesting people. Atsumu is interesting. Two setters that are clever in different ways. This one makes more sense to be set in MSBY era onward to me. They probably would end up meeting each other through some MSBY/general volleyball connection, whether that’s through MSBY Hinata or JVA Kuroo.
• Kenma/Sakusa - Another one for MSBY era connections. These two are both so standoffish and grumpy I LOVE them together.
• Kenma/Lev - These two growing past not getting along means everything to me. I also love thinking about streamer Kenma x model Lev.
• Kenma/Oikawa - Another clever setter pair. Do they somehow meet through Hinata or Kuroo? At the Olympics? Just randomly? My most random Kenma ship, two super different personalities that somehow work together to me.

AKAASHI SHIPS:

Anything except for bokuaka or osaaka (once again, both amazing ships, just not for these rarepair prompts!), for example…

• Akaashi/Atsumu - the alternate Miya twin pairing for Akaashi?! Also the MSBY Bokuto connection.
• Akaashi/Sakusa - also a connection through MSBY Bokuto! They are both sarcastic and I love them together.
• Akaashi/Suna - Akaashi & Osamu is always a thing to me, so this one would be via an Akaashi & Osamu connection, probably?
• Akaashi/Kageyama - Kageyama is kind of obsessed with Akaashi in high school. I would love them to get together related to this.
• This list is getting to be a bit long but Akaashi/Hinata, Akaashi/Iwaizumi, and Akaashi/Oikawa are all compelling to me.

Maybe sometime I’ll go on and on about more of my favorite rare hq ships and collate them into a masterpost or something so that I can reference it later. Who knows.
